Not only will golf fans want to see the best golfer in the world try to reclaim his past glory, but we wouldn’t be surprised if a few members of the press are there to witness/record the Tiger Woods return to golf. You might have heard that Tiger Woods has been on an indefinitely hiatus from golf since Thanksgiving in 2009 due to the surfacing of marriage infidelity with various women who were not his wife, Elin Woods, who could soon go back to being Elin Nordegren.
According to the NY Post, a source said “I would be shocked if he didn’t play the Arnold Palmer.” The course is a favorite of Tigers, and he has won the Arnold Palmer Invitational six times in his career, including four consecutive wins from 2000 to 2003. There is also some speculation that Tiger will return to golf at the Tavistock Cup, a high-profile tournament that is scheduled to take place at Isleworth on March 22-23.
Recently Jack Nicklaus has said he expects Tiger Woods to play the Masters. Each year Masters tickets are one of the hottest tickets in golf, but if Tigers Woods plays the tournament demand for tickets will be even greater. If Tiger Woods plays the Arnold Palmer Invitational, most speculators would expect him to play at the Masters. In fact some have speculated that Tiger Woods would need to take the rust off his golf game since he has not played recently. The golf tournament could be a very big deal, and it could beat US Open tickets or PGA Championship tickets in terms of a national audience.
Also in the report was news that Tiger has tapped former President George Bush’s Press Secretary Ari Fleischer, who also worked with Mark McGuire in his return to the St. Louis Cardinals as a hitting coach. Fleischer started Sports Communications in 2008 and has worked in public relations with sports stars since.
