The 2009 PGA Championship Tournament is coming up!
Established in 1916, the PGA Championship is one of the most storied events in all of sports. The 2009 PGA Championship is being hosted by Hazeltine National Golf Club. The par this year will be 72, and the yardage will be 7,685. It is not only a stop on the PGA Tour, but also on the PGA European Tour and the Japan Golf Tour. The PGA Championship was a match play for the fist few years of its existence, from 1916–1957, but it became stroke play in 1958. The winner of the 2009 PGA Championship will be awarded a purse of $7,500,000.
The Aggregate Tournament record score holder is David Toms who hit 265 in 2001, giving him the honor of the best record for all majors. The to-par record of 18 is shared by Bob May (2000) and Tiger Woods (2000 and 2006). Current champion Pádraig Harrington will be doing his best to hold onto the title, but you know that the PGA Championship is going to be one of the best golf tournaments of the year.
